Calling All Runners…Undertaking Their Journey – Running With The Pack

Hi, so here’s the thing. I need your help…We need your help…
…My name’s Jenni and I’m mum to a gorgeous Border Terrier called Teddy Bear. I say I’m his mum, but I have a number of other roles including typist/admin assistant and general dogsbody! He has his own twitter account (@teddybearbt) and it was whilst typing for him that I came across a good pal of his – @RootyFoxWire. He and his mum introduced us to Terrier SOS. I looked at the website – www.terriersos.com and realised how little I was aware of what was going on across Europe in perreras and pounds. How so many dogs are in need and how helpless these poor adorable four legged friends are. That without the help and love of people who volunteer for causes such as Terrier SOS, so many of them would lose their lives.
So what can we do to help?
Well we can give these dogs in need a loving home through fostering or adoption. Unfortunately I’m not in a position to be able to help in this way.
So how else can we help?
Well we can donate. Excellent… But I didn’t feel satisfied with this and so I came to a decision…
For the next year, starting on 27th October 2013 I am going to run as far as possible!
How far you ask? Well it’s approximately 786 miles from Madrid to London and so I think it’s only fair to see what kind of journey these terriers have to make, in order to find their forever homes.
Unfortunately with a full time job, the inability to swim and a young dog to take care of, I can’t physically take a route from London to Madrid.
786 miles is the equivalent of around 30 marathons. I am nowhere near ready to take part in 30 marathons and so I intend to partake in as many runs as I can all the while whilst advertising Terrier SOS. I will wear a custom made t-shirt, fancy dress and even get Ted involved on some cani-x events (and yes he has a t-shirt too!)! These runs will be anything from 5km, 10km, half marathons, obstacle events to custom made runs (more to follow).
Even with partaking in as many runs as I can, it will be a struggle to even reach quarter of the way; so who else is with me? If you’re planning on running a marathon or even a 2km why not try to raise a little money or awareness for terrier SOS – if you’re interested please let me know. The more exposure the better!
Ted will be writing a blog following our journey – http://www.teddybearbt.blogspot.co.uk
So please share this – sponsor me – help me – support me  – but most of all support Terrier SOS !!!

Thanks Jenni and Ted xxxx
