This poor boy was saved from the perrera in Valencia. We know he is approx. 5 years old. He was abandoned and picked up by the perrera. They were able to trace the owners from the micro chip, but they said they did not want him and came and signed the paperwork to release him. He was at risk and would have been put to sleep, but we decided that he deserved better. We could not look into those eyes and not try to help him. Newly arrived in the UK with his new foster family – where they will now show him the love and care he deserves.
Roan in the UK

What a transformation from perrera to foster kennel!

ADOPTED
Lucky Luciano has now been adopted by his foster family – we wish you all the best.
We were told about Lucky Luciano in June 2013, found in a killing station in Jerez, near Cadiz and having been abandoned there by his family who no longer wanted him. On the list to be killed we stepped in and he was made safe in early July 2013, with the help of our friends Tina and Karen in Spain. Age unknown, but placed around 5-6 years, loves swimming pools and water! He is a typical male fox terrier, can be dominant with other males, so best in a family as either an only dog or alongside a bitch.

This poor girl has had a tough life. Like so many dogs in Spain – her first family threw her out – but before they did – they beat her so badly they have left her with a limp on her back leg. She was 18 months old and without a home. A woman took her in and put her in her kennels – this is where Nancy Reagan stayed for the past 5 years.
Nancy Reagan is now 6.5 years old and has never known love or human kindness. She has spent her life ‘surviving’ – not drawing any attention to herself and staying out of the way. A wonderful volunteer told us about her and asked if we can help – so we brought her to the UK!
Nancy Reagan has now been adopted by the lovely Saskia and her family.
We were contacted by the wonderful volunteers at Happy Endings/Final Feliz – http://www.happy-ending-final-feliz.eu – Lucy had been found as a stray and although she had a micro chip – it was registered in Argentina!
They did try and contact the owners – but had no response – no one is sure how she made it from Buenos Aires to Murcia – but she did! Lucy was a very nervous dog – she did not get along well with other dogs and found life in kennels very stressful.
She was biting at the bars, she was barking all the time – and the volunteers did not know they would be able to place her in a home in Spain – at 8 years old – she was never going to be easy!
So they contacted us and we were so heartbroken to see the pictures of her and so saddened that at her time of life to find herself kennelled and unwanted. She was booked on a transport and made her way to the UK!
With her fosters…
This is one girl that has a lot of frequent flyer miles to her passport – and she has finally landed on her paws! She is loved, cuddled and will never find herself on the streets again!
Photos taken recently in her forever home…
One of the first dogs we brought from Spain was Diamond – the Municipal Council Pound in Almeria had a dog dropped off – he was 7 years old – a gorgeous terrier boy named Diamond. The reason he was handed over: They were bored of him.
The pound does not hold the dogs long before they put them to sleep – and a wonderful volunteer got in touch with us and asked if we could help….this is the first time we saw him:

No one had shown any interest as he was considered old – and if we did not take him he would be pts. We agreed to take him. We still had to organise his paperwork and transport. Luckily a Spanish rescue decided to help us if we paid costs – so the ball began to roll…
Diamond was ready for transport, they had him ready and we were waiting. Diamond was groomed for us before transport – and when he arrived we were shocked – he was so thin! Also we were shocked, he was so lovely -Diamond by name and Diamond by nature. Although we see it often, we will never understand how so many wonderful dogs are abandoned. Diamond was days away from losing his life – another number – the thought still fills our hearts with sadness. It is dogs like Diamond that keep us going, they are all Diamonds and they deserve a chance to have a loving forever home.

A few days later with his foster pal…

Diamond stayed with his foster for a short while and he proved to be such a lovely boy…he has found a forever home and they love him and could not imagine life without him. Here he is now…
He has a new life and a new name – his forever family are giving him all the love and cuddles he deserves!
