This is Arthur (nickname: Artie,Artie McFartie, Arturo) – this poor boy was one of Spain’s many strays – he ended up in a perrera and was left in kennels – he is about 8 – and he really had no hope of ever getting out. We were told about him by Irene – a lovely volunteer with a rescue called Last Hope Dog Rescue. She had seen him and he was in a miserable state – she asked if we could help. Arthur was skin and bones, his fur was thin and he had bald patches. We said – Yes – send him on up! He arrived in the UK and it was like Tigger had arrived – he was bouncy bouncy bouncy. He had obviously been kennelled for a long time – he was under socialised and had no clue how to live in a house. He has been in foster and the fosterers have helped him – he now travels well in the car, he can be brushed (that has been a huge achievement), he is house trained, he loves to cuddle and play and he can live with another dog – but preferably a calm one. He has calmed down and is one of the sweetest, cuddliest dogs we have ever met.
But we are sure Arthur was kept in a garden by himself – as he shows a lot of signs of being under socialised and when out and about he gets stressed. He has become protective of his foster family – and can make quite a nuisance of himself with other dogs and sometimes people. We are working with this behaviour but the new family must have terrier/rescue dog experience and be prepared to continue his training.
Sadly Arthur has had a real setback – he had been suffering since he arrived with his digestive system – and the Vet diagnosed a severe Giardia infection. It really knocked this poor boy out, he has received treatment and is almost back to 100% – but he will need to be kept on a low protein diet and get regular worming treatments.
At Crufts this year – a Wire Fox Terrier named King Arthur won Best in Group for the Terriers – well, this is Terrier SOS’ Best in Group – our very own King Arthur – because he was neglected, abandoned and left to die – but he still trusts and loves and still wants to be with people and protect them – and for our King Arthur – the best is yet to come…
If you think you have what it takes to be a terrier owner and think you may be right for Arthur – then please fill in a form via https://www.terriersos.com/download-our-adoption-form/ and return it to us, we look forward to hearing from you.

- Arthur in perrera
Carol has been adopted by her foster family, whist we’re always sorry to lose a foster, we’re very happy for Carol and wish her and her family the best.
This little girl is called Carol, a Jack Russell/Wire terrier cross, abandoned at the perrera with her two puppies. She did have a microchip. The owner was contacted, but said she gave the dog away and wants nothing more to do with her…so in the perrera she went with her puppies. Sadly one puppy has died, the other has gone into another rescue. But Carol did not stand a chance and so we agreed to save her. She is now with the foster family in Greater London.
Described as very terrier like and absolutely needs her new home to have no small furry pets. Other dog friendly and needs cuddles/reassurance in abundance. She has had an extremely tough start in life, with various problems in kennels, but remains strong and loving. A true testament to the tenacious terrier. Born in 2012, she is a very young girl. If you are interested in this dog, please fill in our rehoming questionnaire on this website, in the first instance.

The wonderful Tony has now been adopted, lucky family!
This adorable terrier cross is Tony, another stray dumped on the streets of Spain without a second thought. Thought to be around 2 and a half years old. He ended up in the perrera and his days became numbered. Very sweet in nature, he is now in foster in Lincolnshire, after spending some time in kennels in Spain.
His foster mum says: “TONY such a baby really but day 2 he is coming to me to let me know he needs to go out to spend a penny and day 3 off lead and coming back when called. He is booked into the groomers on the 13th to see if she can tame his unruly hair! He needs to put a few pounds on as well ,but he is a star.”
We are seeking an adoptive home for Tony. If you are interested in this dog please apply by filling in the rehoming questionnaire on this website and send to stated email address, in the first instance.

This poor boy was saved from the perrera in Valencia. We know he is approx. 5 years old. He was abandoned and picked up by the perrera. They were able to trace the owners from the micro chip, but they said they did not want him and came and signed the paperwork to release him. He was at risk and would have been put to sleep, but we decided that he deserved better. We could not look into those eyes and not try to help him. Newly arrived in the UK with his new foster family – where they will now show him the love and care he deserves.
