Pluto is a gorgeous Bodeguero – a Spanish version of a Parsons or Jack Russell, they were originally bred to get rid of ‘vermin’ in wine cellars. A kind person moved him from his original home, as they wanted to get rid of him, potentially kill him, for not fault of his own. Luckily he was sent to the pound and then into our care. He is around 3 and has now settled in his foster home in Nottinghamshire, this is what the family says:
Pluto is a friendly and fun terrier who loves company! He is not keen on early starts, and is quite happy to laze in bed until breakfast time. In the house he loves to cuddle on the sofa or watch you pottering about. But he is quite relaxed about being left for short periods and often takes himself off to his bed when there’s nothing going on. He has fitted in to life in a home, housetrained and happy to learn new tricks, he is starting to play with toys. He’s got plenty of energy and a sharp mind he picks up new commands and lessons easily.
He gets quite excitable if we meet new dogs when walking, but we are working on that and as he grows in confidence the barks are lessening. Otherwise he is a pleasure to walk on the lead, gentle and happy when he sees people. He loves to romp and explore the local woods, that nose just hits the ground! Pluto loves pottering round the garden and is ever vigilant, on the lookout for the neighbours cats! Typical terrier when he’s focused on hunting his recall skills are somewhat forgotten! He is learning to play and loves a game of fetch or simply running around with you.
We would like to introduce the newest member of the Terrier SOS family – Teddy Ben – named in honour of Ted Nicholson. What we know about Teddy – he was a stray picked up in Spain – he is a big fox terrier (approx 12 kilos) – he is young 1-2 years old, and quite the character – and true to form an escape artist… he will be coming to the UK shortly.
This is a gorgeous boy – although only about a year old – it seems like he may have a bit of growing left to do – his paws and head seem too large for his body. And accordingly, so is his heart – this boy is a real softee and just wants to be with people and getting cuddles.
He is currently fostered in Dorset and lives happily with his patterdale foster sister, this is what the family has to say:
“If you’re looking for a loyal loving companion who is always pleased to see you then you couldn’t find better than Perri. He’s such a charming boy, everyone who meets him can’t fail to fall for his deep brown eyes and beautiful face. He has settled in well with us here, quickly picking up on the routine and making firm friends with out resident pooch Pootle. They spend lots of time playing tug together or chasing balls when out at the park. Perri has good recall but is very keen to meet and greet all the dogs whilst out so can suffer from selective deafness, he always comes back just not as quickly as you’d like. We are currently training him with a whistle to help improve his speed!
The biggest issue with Perri is that he’s a chewer. We have combatted this with kongs, antlers and rope toys which has helped massively. Whilst you are at home with him it doesn’t happen but when you leave him he will chew on mostly cloth items like doorstops, dog beds etc. When leaving him for any period of time we fill a Kong with treats and give him a rope toy. Since doing this we have had no accidents, nothing that shouldn’t be chewed has suffered and he isn’t even bothered by the post coming through the door!Perri is very affectionate and is always looking for someone willing to rub his tummy or behind the ears nudging your hand when you haven’t done enough. He’s a gentle soul and doesn’t make a lot of noise or take up much room even though he’s a lab size dog. Sleeping is one of his most favourite pastimes or finding sun puddles in the garden. He’s great when you’re out and about and will settle easily if you decide to stop for a drink or bite to eat. Perri travels well in the car and happily jumps up into the boot or sit on the back seat with a harness.
You will never be lonely with Perri and when out walking you will get let’s of admiring glances and ooo’s and ahh’s, people can’t comment enough on how cute he is. Perri has never shown any thing but love towards other dogs, children and us. He is truly remarkable and deserves his own family who can shower him with the love and affection he deserves.”

He has St Bernard type hound like features and eyes that melt you in one look. Although larger than some of our other dogs, he is a gentle boy and better tempered than some of the smaller terriers!
He came from Spain – his original family were unable to care for him or his pal, Rex. They were either being chained in the garden or left to their own devices at risk of being hit by a vehicle. Perri use to go and meet the school bus and make sure the daughter got home safe, as the mother was too busy or not able to go. He surely deserves a home that will realise they have the greatest friend they have ever known?
He is neutered, fully vaccinated – he would be fine with children over 10 – at 24 kilos he is the size of a springer spanier or lab.
Oscar has now settled with his foster family and this is what his foster mum says about him:
Wilde by name wild by nature.
Oscar came to us with no manners and not much experience of living in a home environment, however he soon settled in to it! Oscar is now housetrained and is learning new manners with the help of our resident pooch.
Oscar walks well on a harness and lead but as yet is not so great with recall, we are working on this and his new family will need to continue working with him. He loves playing with his squeaky ball and this is the key to getting him to stay interested – that and food Oscar’s other big love!
Oscar enjoys eating and learning new things to gain treats, he learnt sit very quickly! He has shown no food aggression and will happily eat a dry or wet food diet. Be warned he will steal food if you leave it lying around!
One of Oscar’s favourite places is next to you, he loves being in the thick of it and adores cuddles and head scratches. He will seek out human contact and loves to give kisses. He also loves to sunbathe and can be quite often found on the kitchen step basking in the sunlight!
Oscar sleeps in the bedroom with us on his own bed, he found my gym bag quite comfortable for the first couple of nights but we have since introduced him to the benefits of a comfy dog cushion.
When we go out Oscar is very keen to meet other dogs, in his excitement he tends to bark and growl and this can be misinterpreted as aggression by other dog owners. We are working on this by modifying not only our behaviour but also by Oscar’s, slowly and with lots of treats and positive training methods this can and will be overcome.
We believe Oscar to be around two years of age but he is still very puppy like in his behaviour. He is very curious and is like a sponge learning new things everyday, Oscar is an intelligent dog and will need someone willing to stimulate him by taking him to training classes.
He has not been destructive in the house or garden, he likes to play tug and attack the squeaky objects around him. We have left Oscar for up to 4 hours at a time and he has shown no signs of separation anxiety. He travels well in the car and if given the opportunity will happily pop his head out of the window to catch the breeze!
Oscar gets on well with our own dog and when on a long line happily plays with the other dogs we meet on the field, his favourite game is chase.
In short Oscar is a great little dog, life with him will be very rewarding and whatever you put into him with regards to training and love you will get back ten fold. He’s a real gem.
2 males, neutered, approx age 18 months – 24 months
These wonderful boys were saved from an unknown fate in a Spanish perrera, they are terrier crosses and we have had great fun in guessing their heritage – our most popular suggestions are Norfolk, Cairn, Yorkshire terrier – so a Nocayork terrier!
They are the dynamic duo – they must be rehomed together as these are very bonded brothers. When they first arrived they were very uncertain and timid, but with patience and reassurance the boys have blossomed. They are bundles of fun with an infectious energy.
They have learned to play with toys and love nothing more than a game of chase-me – indoors or out. They are devoted to eachother – sharing food and toys – and have no possession or aggression issues. This is also true with other dogs. They can be wary of big dogs (they are only little!) but soon relax and play.
They travel well in the car, and are fine with most people – they can be wary of some men – so gentle introductions at first – if they are frightened they bark at the offender – but can be brought round with some kind encouragement.
They love to be near you and will cuddle and kiss you. A personal favourite of their foster – is their game of dragging themselves round the floor froggy legged – they do this while playing chase-me – such a hilarious pair of boys.
They do suffer from some separation anxiety – they are desperate for human interaction – so the thought of being left alone causes them stress. This manifests itself in barking/crying for about 15-20 minutes and they have also been known to have stress piddles in the hallway – this is being worked on and we are using different distraction techniques – this will be explained to any prospective applicant. But it is something that will need to be continued and built upon. Considering how much they have changed/adapted in such a short period – we are sure they will improve with their anxiety if it is worked on with patience and time.
They would best suit a home where they will not be left on a regular basis, and a household that will have the patience and compassion to give them that time to develop.
We are only looking to rehome them together.
Both boys have their passports, are neutered and are fully vaccinated.
