Alba (Dawn) – Wire Fox terrier – Rehomed

Alba (Spanish for Dawn) was purchased for a grandchild – the purchase was a ‘whim’. The dog came to stay and decided chickens were for eating – so they put a chain round her neck and tied her to a stake in the ground. She has not been off this chain since. They never even bothered to give her a name – just a dog at the end of a chain.

The people put the house up for rent/sale – and a caring person went to view the house and was told the dog came with the house… well, they didn’t want the house but they couldn’t turn their back on the dog…so began the pleas for help…how can you see this and not try? So with the help of some amazing people – this dog is now safe.

Alba’s Before and After:

She has been named Dawn – Alba in Spanish – because this is where the darkness ends for this girl…a new Dawn, a new beginning!

Dawn has gone into foster in the UK and has really blossomed.  She loves playing, walking, cuddling and being an over all loving terrier.  When she was living on her chain – she ate rocks and when anxious – she can become destructive – She ingested a rope dog toy one weekend and it culminated in her requiring surgery to remove a blockage.  A portion of intestine was removed.  She has made a full recovery, and is on a special diet – but has shown no sign of slowing down! But this means the adoptive family must be vigilant – and the ideal family would be at home for her most of the day. We will work with a behaviourist and ensure a plan is in place to support any future family

She loves to sleep on the sofa, she is quick to settle, she travels well in the car, enjoys patrolling her garden and chasing the birds away.  She is loved by everyone who meets her and is such a sweet gentle girl.

She is a cutie – we think she is 5/6 years old – she does get on with other dogs (provided they were calm) but would prefer a home of her own where she can get all the attention.  This wonderful little dog needs and deserves a chance – could that be you?

Currently in foster in Surrey
