Lolo – Wire Fox Terrier – Rehomed

Meet the amazing Lolo!  A beautiful fox terrier boy and an honoured member of the Pointy Ears Club!
Like so many of our dogs, we got a message about a boy at risk in a perrera in Southern Spain – so through the usual wonderful volunteers he came into our care. He went into kennels with another of our rescued dogs, Kika.  They were firm friends – which just shows he can live on his own or with another dog (with proper introductions).  Lolo is 5 years old, neutered and in foster in Nottinghamshire.

Lolo is a super little dog. He enjoys being outside, always on the go, sniffing out the local wildlife and patrolling the fences and keeping the neighbourhood safe. Indoors he’s the first to relax on his bed or (better, in his opinion) on a chair or sofa. His foster has often stood up from desk and turned round to find Lolo has taken up his rightful place on her chair. Lolo loves a cuddle, on his own terms, he’ll snuggle up in the sofa and watch a film with you but is just as happy working on a chew in his bed.

With ears like these, there’s no sneaking past Lolo, he wants to be part of whatever is going on in the home. Whenever you are, there’s Lolo, right behind you or sitting on your foot. Just don’t leave the bathroom door ajar…
Lolo loves humans and is so friendly with everyone he meets, he even showed no fear when meeting the vet. Lolo is getting used to seeing other dogs out walking. He’s picked up the training really quickly, and now walks really well on the lead provided you follow our instructions.  He is a dog that needs time and patience. However, his recall is typical for a terrier (i.e. non-existent!) and he is very prey driven so we expect life for Lolo will be enjoyed on a lead!  See a video of Lolo on our facebook page

Hero Hal – Fox Terrier – Rehomed

Please meet Hero Hal Jordan – another one of our Terrier SOS Super Heroes….we got an urgent plea asking if we could help this poor dog – straying on the streets in poor condition, limping – who could turn him away?

He is a brave little dog and we felt we had to help.  So we said we would take him, and with the help of the amazing volunteer network we have abroad – who drove to pick him up and get him to a vet to seek treatment for his front leg.  He has since had surgery and had his front right leg amputated, as the damage was too severe for remedial treatment.  He is currently in foster in Spain.

He walks much better now as a 3-legged hero, and is proving to be an incredibly smart young man!  A fast learner, he is currently undertaking some basic behaviour training to ensure his manners are up to scratch!  He knows where the cookie jar is, for sure!  Check out our facebook page for videos of his training!

Poppy – Wire Fox Terrier – rehomed

Note: We’ve had a number of enquiries about Poppy and are confident we will be able to find her forever home.  If you like the sound of precious Poppy, do take a look at her fellow 3-legged fox terrier pal, Hero Hal!

We know this little girl will steal your heart like she stole ours! Her name is Poppy – she lived in the Spanish countryside with a lot of other dogs – the owner would go out on horse back – with the dogs following him.

One day he returned home and she was not following.  She eventually turned up later a few days later…with a wire snare around the leg, it was also entangled with barb-wire. Because she was stuck for too long the leg was black and the blood supply cut off – they had no option but to amputate the leg. Poppy had been through hell those days caught in that trap, desperately trying to get out. The owner said she was not any good to him anymore. Luckily a good person contacted us and she came into our care in Spanish foster. There the vet decided to amputate the leg and had to deal with other issues.  Watch a video of Poppy here.

She is now in London foster and this is what her host family says:

“Poppy came rather shy at times but given her circumstances very upbeat, and laid back, quite and extremely lovable – and with a tail that wags like the Doctors K-9 which dog would not be.

It has been a joy to see her sleep and recuperate – but she is now also in the position to walk and exercise and generally build her fitness up, and it turns out she still has a lot of gumption, and gives the other dogs a good run and as much fox terrier spirit as they give her.

She is toilet trained, and has not damaged anything in the house. She is even good at walking up and down our normal staircases, though the more modern ones she does not like to climb up. She likes being around company whether that be adults or the kids, and can be a little anxious when left on her own unless she’s sleeping.

Due care is required to ensure she does not damage her remaining hind leg, so if you are a mountaineer or a keen hiker she is not going to be the dog for you. A semi rural or urban lifestyle would suit her, she could live on her own or with other dogs and older children.

She is a delight and needs a household where people are around most of the time or can take her to work.”

Poppy is dog friendly and a really sweet girl. She manages to adjust on three legs and just needs a family that will love her as a pet. She is on the smaller size for a foxy (8 kilos, 35cm high to shoulder). Does a three legged dog need special treatment? You may have to help her go up stairs, and rub her on the side where she can’t do it herself. Have a lifestyle where she is less likely to hurt her back leg (mountaineering, hill hiking not so good).

Princess Georgina – Cairn Yorkshire Terrier Mix – Rehomed

A stray dark Yorkie cross found in Spain, Princess Georgina is a young lady in need of a kingdom to call her own.  She is a dainty young lady, with friendly manners befitting her title, currently in foster in the UK.

Georgina is a real gem – her tail never stops wagging.  She loves to give licks, dance on her back legs, wag her tail; she is super bright and super sweet. Fine with dogs andpeople – she just needs to calm down a wee bit and will need good guidance and further training from her adoptive home.  She is a busy little girl, always on the go!

Mr Darcy – Terrier Lurcher Mix – Rehomed

You must allow me to tell you how ardently I admire and love you…”

Thus spake Mr Darcy, in Pride and Prejudice.  Our own Mr Darcy is similarly young, tall, dark, and handsome…  An athletic young man, looking for life time companionship with his future loving family.  He is Airedale-sized, and has everything to learn, but is fun and sweet and will make a great companion.   Need we say any more?

darcy5

Spaniard Mr Darcy came to our attention earlier in August, who we moved to kennels from a perrera and is now safe, fostered in Norfolk.

He is a wonderful, happy, lust for life kind of dog.  He is young (approx a year old) and ready for the big wide world.  He is a lurcher type cross and has quite the need/joy of running – he is into everything and is quite cheeky.  He will need an active family and one that is ready to help him become a pet.  He is larger – approx an Airedale height – but on the athletic side.  He did suffer a swelling in his elbow when he arrived from Spain – this has gone down but he will need a very comfy sofa to rest on from now on.

We are looking for a family that has had bigger dog experience and one that is quite bouncy and cheeky.  If not, he will run circles round you.  Personally we think he is a doll and want the perfect family for him.  He has never really lived as a pet so will need some guidance.  But he is a sweet, lovely boy – dog and people friendly. He is fully vaccinated, with his passport, neutered and blood tested.  13977957_1125979947462467_1975043627_o

Mr Darcy is looking for a good sense of humour, and lots of cuddles in his ideal furever family.   He has also expressed an appreciation for big soft sofas to relax on.

Does this sound like you?  Could you be the one to give Mr Darcy a chance to love?
