Cuddly Lobo was found as stray in Tenerife, currently in foster in Spain.
He was brought to a rescue that is run by an English couple. Lobo was heavily matted, in a terrible state. He also walked with an odd gait.
The rescue took him in – cleaned him up, and took him to a vet to assess his gait. The diagnosis is that poor Lobo’s 1st vertebrae is out of sync, and this is causing a compression on his spinal cord. The vet feels that his condition can be managed with pain meds and anti-inflammatory meds and this will give his a happy full life.
Due to his age and condition, he will not find a home in Tenerife – so we were asked if we could help. Well, we love a fox terrier (who doesn’t!) – and we think he is a doll!
We will reassess his condition when he arrives to the UK. He is fine with other dogs (keeps to himself), loves people and is ready for his new life.
Lobo deserves to live his life in a wonderful home here where he can get the love and compassion he has lacked so far. Complete a TerrierSOSQuestionnaireMay2015 now!
Remember: Children: 10+, no cats or small furries. Dogs for adoption will be neutered, passported, vaccinated.
George was sadly abandoned by his family. He is another dog that was lost and giving up hope in a perrera in Spain. We offered to help and now he is safe in foster in Lincolnshire.
He is young – and lovely – Gorgeous by name and by nature! He needs a loving home where he can begin a new chapter in his life.
Calisto was abandoned with another dog in a park in Northern Spain – they were picked up and placed in the local town kennels – they do not get held long here and are thrown in with a lot of other dogs. Someone came forward for his companion – but no one wanted Calisto. So he had days before they would end his life. We were contacted by a volunteer in Spain asking if we could help. You see Calisto is an older Fox Terrier and he is not quite ‘perfect’.
But we at Terrier SOS think he is beautiful and we want to find him the right home that will see the gem that he is. He is approx 6-7 years old. He’s has three deformities: on his jaw, he has a cleft palate and a deformity on his spine. The Vet has said none of these cause him any problems and he manages just fine. He does make noises when he breathes apparently – due to the cleft palate. He is perfectly healthy and has just been neutered. He had infections due to the many dog bites he received whilst in kennels and they are being treated.
He is currently in foster in Bournemouth and we would love an adoptive home for him – he is desperate for human attention. He is fine to live with other dogs – but no small furries. This is a special boy and we want a special home.
This beautiful hairy boy was brought to our attention by the wonderful volunteers working with the Valencia perrera. Rayo came from a hoarder that decided to surrender some of their dogs. Rayo was in a bad state, in need of a groom and some TLC. Well, we fell for him – hook, line and sinker! He has made his journey to the UK and is now in foster in Norfolk, awaiting his furever family. He is approx. 2 years old and from all accounts a very friendly boy.
We are looking for a terrier experienced home that understands terrier ways. He could live with another dog – but at this stage we are saying no small furries.
This is the beautiful Ziggy. He is now ready for a new home. Ziggy came from Spain a very petrified and fearful dog.
Whatever happened to him in Spain really made him scared of everything – but we have been working with him and his confidence is growing and we feel he is ready fro the next stage.
Please note that the family that adopts Ziggy will understand that everything must be at his pace – and he will have a very slow introduction into the greater world. His faith and trust in humans was severely tested in Spain and he will need to trust and bond with his new family and they cannot push him. Ziggy is a young dog and a very gentle soul – but we have done a lot to help him trust people and realise they will not hurt him – so we need that work continued. You will need to follow what we have done for him – you will also be a calm household with no young children, or lots of visitors. He could only live with a calm dog – but preferably on his own.
The photos are him groomed – he was frightened of any noise or sudden movement – so he was very gently scissored and given lots of breaks to adjust to sounds and people.
That is an example of the patience that will be needed for him – he will blossom into a gorgeous dog and companion – but this will not happen overnight – and it will be done at his pace with the support of his family. The prospective family will need to go to Norfolk to visit him.
