Please welcome the newest member to our Terrier SOS adoptable dog family….please meet Viking! Viking – pronounce Vee-king in French – is a 10 year old fox terrier. He came into our care at the beginning of December – sadly due to a change of circumstances, his owners could no longer keep him.  He has been in foster in Dorset, living with a lovely female patterdale.

He is a gentleman who likes his walks and spending time in his garden. During the day he loves snoozing on the sofa and enjoys being wherever you are in the house, including the bedroom at night. He wants a quiet life and could live with another calm dog.

He is in good health for his age, although he has cataract in one eye.

He’s adapted very quickly to life in his foster family, he loves a cuddle on the sofa, walking off the lead on the beach.  He is good with other dogs he meets on walks and likes having a little play.  We think he might be the perfect older dog.

He is chipped & vaccinated.
If you are interested in adopting Viking – please fill in a Questionnaire – old dogs need love too.

Berni

Another lovely spaniard – Berni has arrived to the UK. We pulled him from another horrible killing station. He is one of Spain’s many strays and abandoned dogs. We got him ready to travel (He had to be operated on for a Hernia and treated for Erlichia) – he got the all clear and he is now fostered in London.

What his foster says: Berni is a lovely dog, He is dog friendly but can be a bit wary of bigger dogs. Needs to learn some basic urban dog skills – like walking on lead, getting used to noises, and not eating everything he finds on the ground!

We think he is a cross between a Fox terrier and a Petit Griffon Vendeen. He is definitely a scent hound and cannot live with small furries. He has a stumpy tail – so he is part of the wiggle bum brigade.

Travels well in the car, and has not seemed bothered by fireworks thankfully. We are still assessing him and will keep the site updated.

He loves people – and is ready for a home filled with love and TLC

The beautiful Miss Maya is being fostered in Hertfordshire. A few words from her foster family: “She is the most gentle and kind dog you would ever wish to meet, whose tail never stops wagging!  Maya has been on a trip to see the ducks, and then went to the pet shop. Maya was very good and even found some treats..She was a bit puzzled when she saw her reflection in the mirror but soon realised it was not her twin..or is it just a girl thing!”

She came to us from the same Killing Station as Nando and Wendy – we are always full and the volunteers asked us to help – and we did not have the space.  But they made one last plea – she had overstayed and they needed her kennel for dogs arriving on Monday…..so what could we do.  We decided to squeeze her in.  Look at those eyes – how can we not try and give this dog a chance at a loved life.

Maya is approx 5 years old, she is sweet – a long legged jack russell cross – good with people and dogs. Can she be the dog for you?

Vaccinated, neutered & chipped.

Sorry no small furries.

Keryas

Keryas was found by a spanish volunteer – he was near death abandoned on a dump site & tied by blue string to a concrete block. This dog was abandoned to die – tied to the rock – it was obviously sick and had puncture wounds from dog bites. He was so weak he could barely lift his head.

She brought him straight to the vet but as she has 28 dogs she is trying to rehome she could not afford to help him – so she contacted Terrier SOS. We are in a fortunate position and have wonderful supporters and we have the ability to cover the costs for this very unfortunate boy. At the vet’s he had several blood transfusions, he was very sick and the vet was not sure if he would make it.. But in true terrier style he pulled through – but he was ill – he had Heartworm (has been treated), Erlichia (A parasite spread by ticks) also treated. He also has a verruca on his lip and that will be removed when he is neutered.

He took a long time to get healthy – he was on special food and will need to be monitored – as he was severely anaemic. He should be ok to travel in the next few weeks – he is still in Spain with his foster.

He is young, dog friendly and very timid. Understandingly he is a bit afraid of people and the big outdoors – he is gaining in strength and confidence and will become a wonderful companion – he will need a patient and quiet home to get adjusted to his new life.

Hhe will be neutered, fully vaccinated & microchipped.
