Alba (Dawn) – Wire Fox terrier – Rehomed

Alba (Spanish for Dawn) was purchased for a grandchild – the purchase was a ‘whim’. The dog came to stay and decided chickens were for eating – so they put a chain round her neck and tied her to a stake in the ground. She has not been off this chain since. They never even bothered to give her a name – just a dog at the end of a chain.

The people put the house up for rent/sale – and a caring person went to view the house and was told the dog came with the house… well, they didn’t want the house but they couldn’t turn their back on the dog…so began the pleas for help…how can you see this and not try? So with the help of some amazing people – this dog is now safe.

Alba’s Before and After:

She has been named Dawn – Alba in Spanish – because this is where the darkness ends for this girl…a new Dawn, a new beginning!

Dawn has gone into foster in the UK and has really blossomed.  She loves playing, walking, cuddling and being an over all loving terrier.  When she was living on her chain – she ate rocks and when anxious – she can become destructive – She ingested a rope dog toy one weekend and it culminated in her requiring surgery to remove a blockage.  A portion of intestine was removed.  She has made a full recovery, and is on a special diet – but has shown no sign of slowing down! But this means the adoptive family must be vigilant – and the ideal family would be at home for her most of the day. We will work with a behaviourist and ensure a plan is in place to support any future family

She loves to sleep on the sofa, she is quick to settle, she travels well in the car, enjoys patrolling her garden and chasing the birds away.  She is loved by everyone who meets her and is such a sweet gentle girl.

She is a cutie – we think she is 5/6 years old – she does get on with other dogs (provided they were calm) but would prefer a home of her own where she can get all the attention.  This wonderful little dog needs and deserves a chance – could that be you?

Currently in foster in Surrey

Blanca – West Highland Cross – Rehomed

Please welcome our lovely Westie lady up for rehoming, Little Blanca.  This little lady was abandoned at the perrera by her family.  She was covered with creepy crawlies – and had terrible dermatitis/flea infection.  She had treatment with good food and her medicated shampoo.  She now has a full body of hair – so much so we need to trim her fringe or she has to wear an alice band.

Blanca is about 8 years old, only 3.7kg  (she looks like a Mini Westie).  She loves her humans, and is always looking for cuddles.  She is living with dogs, but currently we feel she would prefer being an only dog.  She is in foster in the UK – she is proving to be a real sweetie, she loves her humans and wants nothing more than a lap to cuddle on.

She loves going for walks with her foster family, she is already quite attached to them and never strays far from them (she may miss a cuddle!).

She is being fostered in Bournemouth, Uk

She has her passport, full vaccinations, has been speyed and is ready for her forever home.  If you are interested please Download & complete the TerrierSOSQuestionnaire2017

Henry – Wire Fox Terrier – Rehomed

Henry is a wonderful fox terrier – he is about 5 years old –  he came into rescue after the Puppy Mill he was born into – was closed.  Henry had only known life in this Mill before he came to us.  He came with two kennel mates – both have been rehomed and have settled to life as a pet.  Henry was rehomed but sadly it did not work out.

He is a wonderful dog and flourished in foster care.  His foster carer said:

He is the most adorable puppy in a 4 year olds body I know! Since becoming part of the family he has experienced grass between his paws, strokes from friendly hands, cuddles (he loves those), the beach, car journeys (not so keen on those) and a whole host of other things. He is so willing to learn and please and nothing is better than seeing the wag of his tail.’

Henry went to his new home – where unfortunately things moved too fast for him.  He found the adjustment difficult and became stressed.  So it was felt it is better we find a home that can take things slower for him.

Henry will need a home that is based in the South East.  We have a Behaviourist working with Henry and we would expect any new family to continue to work with the Behaviourist so that Henry gets the support he needs.  We have a plan in place for him, and will discuss further with interested applicants.

The new family will need to have the time and patience for Henry and let him settle at his pace.  We have worked with Henry and he now is able to do short car journeys, we feel with time and support he could also become happier with long distance car journeys

Henry has benefited from being with larger dogs, he can be a bit overboard with smaller dogs.  So he could live with a larger , calm dog.  No young children and no small furries.

Henry needs a terrier-experienced home that is calm with good routines.

Henry has been let down by people, he does have his quirks – but we think this makes him special and we know he will return all your love tenfold.  He is a rescue and as such has come into rescue because people have let him down.  This is not his fault, but it has left its mark on him, we think it is unfair and he deserves a chance.  Could you offer Henry the fab home he deserves?

He is located in kennels in Dartford

He is neutered and vaccinated. No cats or small furries, no children under 10 in the household.

Sooty & Sweep – Border Terrier Mixes – Rehomed

Sooty and Sweep are brothers, abandoned in a Spanish perrera.

We believe then to be around 5 or 6 years old and available to rehome as a pair or separately.

These poor chaps were left to die, having tested positive for Leishmania – a fully treatable disease, which will require regular monitoring, but well-treated has very low impact on their day-to-day life.  They have responded well to treatment after we stepped in to help, and are now in the UK (Norfolk)

They are a double bundle of energy – both dogs are sweet and dog friendly.  They have also tested well with cats.

These boys will need a home that has the time to help them settle, but they will make the perfect companion.

If you are interested in bringing a Sooty, Sweep or both into your home… Please fill in our TerrierSOSQuestionnaire2017 and return it to us, we look forward to hearing from you.

Cats: Could live with dog savvy cats

Children: 10+ – he is vaccinated, microchipped and passported.

Location: Norfolk

Nico – Fox Terrier – Rehomed

Please say Hello to our new Terrier SOS family member! Nico was handed in to the perrera by his ‘owner’ – they gave the right to sacrifice (meaning the shelter is allowed to put down the dog) – so another dog that had no time and we couldn’t risk any delay – so we asked wonderful volunteers for help and they stepped right in.

Nico has been moved to kennels, his fur was in such a matted state that he had to be sedated and shaved by a vet.  We suspect he has been chained his whole life in a yard – not much human or dog interaction – he was very scared and very timid.

He will need a slow and patient introduction into being a pet, he’s only 4 years old and has many years ahead of him. He is loving and wants to live and love – so if you feel you are right for him, please do download a form!
